Where we work
Online-first SEND advocacy and psychological assessment support across the country

NavigateSEND works with families, young people, schools and professionals across the country.
We keep our service online wherever possible because it helps reduce unnecessary travel, lowers overheads, improves turnaround times, and makes it easier for families and professionals to access specialist support quickly.
Where in-person work is needed, we can provide or arrange advocacy, consultation, observation or psychological assessment in agreed locations, subject to scope, availability and travel requirements.
A national service with flexible local support
Many SEND issues can be supported effectively online. EHCP reviews, evidence analysis, annual review preparation, local authority correspondence, advocacy planning, case strategy, parent consultations, professional meetings and report writing can often be completed without the cost and delay of travel.
Some work may need to happen in person. This may include certain psychological assessments, school observations, complex behaviour assessments, capacity assessments, or meetings where face-to-face input would add value.
Our approach is simple:
Online where possible. In person where needed. Always focused on the child, young person or family’s next step.
Why we work online where possible
Working online helps us keep the service more accessible, responsive and focused.
It can help by:
- reducing travel costs and unnecessary overheads;
- allowing quicker review of documents and evidence;
- making it easier to involve parents, carers and professionals in different locations;
- supporting flexible appointments around school, work and caring responsibilities;
- enabling faster written advice, advocacy support and report preparation;
- allowing us to work with families across different local authority areas.
Online work is particularly helpful for EHCP reviews, provision concerns, draft plan responses, annual review preparation, strategy meetings, case reviews, Access to Work support, DSA evidence, and professional consultation.

When online support is usually enough
Online support is often appropriate for:
- initial enquiries;
- parent/carer consultations;
- professional consultations;
- EHCP reviews;
- annual review preparation;
- document and evidence review;
- advocacy planning;
- written advice;
- local authority correspondence;
- case strategy;
- DSA or Access to Work discussions;
- follow-up meetings;
- report feedback.
In many cases, online work allows us to respond more quickly and keep the focus on the evidence, the decision being made and the next practical step.
When in-person work may be needed
In-person work may be recommended where the service requires direct assessment, observation or face-to-face interaction.
This may include:
- some standardised psychological assessments;
- school or setting observations;
- Functional Behavioural Assessment observations;
- complex capacity assessments;
- meetings where in-person attendance would materially improve the work;
- cases where the child or young person cannot access online assessment reliably;
- situations where the environment itself needs to be understood.
If in-person work is needed, we will discuss this with you clearly before confirming the scope, cost and arrangements.
Working across different local authority areas
SEND systems can feel different depending on where you live, which school or college is involved, and which local authority is responsible.
However, many of the underlying questions are similar:
- Are the child or young person’s needs properly understood?
- Is the EHCP accurate and specific enough?
- Is the provision being delivered?
- Is the current placement suitable?
- Is further assessment needed?
- What evidence is missing?
- What is the most sensible next step?
NavigateSEND helps families and professionals organise the situation, clarify the evidence and decide how to move forward.
Not sure whether we can help in your area?
If you are in England and need support with SEND, EHCPs, provision, school breakdown, psychological assessment, behaviour support, study, work or preparation for adulthood, you can contact us.
If we are not the right service, or if your situation needs a different professional route, we will say so clearly.
You do not need to know the exact service name before getting in touch. Tell us what is happening and where you are based, and we will help you identify the most appropriate next step.
